Let me tell you about the time I failed miserably.
In fact, I not only failed, I blew it big time.
Here’s my claim to infamy:
I’m pretty much the expert at finding promotional products other people can’t. Not because I’m special or anything like that. It’s because I never give up.
So when we received an email from Sara, a good customer, who asked:
This is an odd one for you ! Can you find any cake forks with a porcelain handle which we can engrave ( the metal not the handle ) … this is a very happening item at the moment so I am hoping that this might be possible ! Don’t say we don’t give you a challenge…”
Now, my team struggled a bit on this one. So I jumped in with the immortal words, “Someone does these, all I need to do is find out who they are.”
To cut a very long story short, I spent the most part of a couple of days searching and calling anyone who had any connection with porcelain and cutlery.
One of the little tricks I’ve learnt is to speak to related trade organisations (every type of business has a trade body) and after speaking to everyone who’s a member of the British Ceramic Confederation and also the two major wholesalers of kitchenware in the UK, plus others too, I smugly felt I’d found the answer.
I sent Sara an email: “We can get hold of these which has a small subtle pattern on the handle.” And here they are: cake forks with small subtle pattern.
Before I share her reply you should know that she works with high quality designer fragrance brands. Sara’s response was…
“A goose isn’t subtle Mo ! Thank you for researching, especially calling the British ceramic Confederation ! Gooses just aren’t aligned with a brand so we would not be able to pursue this .
There is a gap in the market isn’t there !
Thank you again !
Hey-ho at least I tried and in the words of Theodore Roosevelt – “It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”
Thing is, when something like this happens to you, the best remedy – metaphorically speaking – is to jump back on your horse and start riding again. So you’ll be doing me a huge favour by letting me find something you’re struggling with right now.
So get in touch with us and let us know what promotional products you’re looking for. I’ll be on it faster than you can say “giddyup buttercup.”
