Did you know that you can win back a few of your lapsed customers with promotional products?
Yes, that’s true! Two years ago, we ran a lapsed campaigned that worked well for us. It may not work for everyone but, like most things in life, you’ll never know until you try.
So, here’s how:
Step 1 – Send out a postcard to all the customers who have stopped buying from you using a headline something like, “I haven’t seen you for a while, was it something I did?” and offer them a money off voucher which they can claim by going onto a webpage and leaving their details.
Step 2 – Once they’ve filled in the web form, add them to an email series (this can be automated so by completing the form they automatically start to receive emails).
Step 3 – Call them after a few days just to make sure they have the voucher.
Step 4 – Send them a letter by post and to get their attention include a boomerang. Start the letter with the words, “Why do you think I’ve sent you a boomerang in the post?” And then go on to explain how, just like a boomerang you’d like them to come back to you. Ask them again to go to your webpage to claim their money off voucher if they haven’t done so already.
Step 5 – All those that haven’t responded now gets the 4” plastic bin in the post with a letter inside saying, “Since You’ve Thrown Away All My Previous Letters I Thought I Would Save You The Effort.”
If after this you may decide to give up on the people who haven’t replied, either take them off your lists altogether or try again another time.
From my own experience, this brought back 12 customers and gave a return on investment of around 120%.
