Here’s something that really puzzles me.
People who think they can do something and go it alone without any teaching, help or advice from an expert.
I’ll never understand why they think they can do something they know very little about without seeking help from an expert.
I put it down to two things.
The first is they’re too lazy to learn. They think something’s easy because it looks easy; they don’t realise that doing something and making it look easy takes weeks, months or years to perfect.
Secondly, they think they’re saving time and money. They don’t have the patience to learn something from scratch and they think spending money on expert help is a waste.
Whatever they do ends up, at best very mediocre, and more often than not a total disaster.
So here’s a little bit of advice that if you follow you won’t go far wrong:
If you’re not an expert at it, don’t try to go it alone, get help.
Take our industry for example.
We get calls from time to time from people who’ve never invested in promotional products before.
We can tell them a mile off because they want stuff in an unreasonable time scales, they don’t really know what they want the products to do for them and they have unrealistically low budgets.
They usually end up getting their fingers burnt, which is not a bad thing, you learn from mistakes anyway.
Thing is, they could have avoided those time-consuming costly mistakes if they’d listened to and trusted an expert.
