Promotional Products Can Also Touch People’s Feelings

The written word is incredibly powerful and whether its copy for a website, content for a new product launch or a simple letter sent with promotional products as thank you gifts to your favoured customers.

Here’s a great little story that shows this perfectly.

An old blind man was sitting on a busy street in the rush-hour begging for money. On a cardboard sign, next to a tin cup, he had written: ‘I’m Blind Please Help’.

People were walking past oblivious of the man and apart from the odd coin being thrown his way his tin cup was empty.

A young advertising writer walks past and sees the blind man with his sign and near empty cup.

She walks up to him bends down, picks up the piece of cardboard, pulls a thick marker pen from her pocket and writes on the reverse side. Not a word is spoken and while she’s writing, the blind man leans forward and touches her shoes. She smiles and walks away.

Suddenly, people began showering the blind man with money, coins were raining down on him and this continued throughout the day,

Towards the end of the day the woman passed the blind man again and stopped to see the cup was overflowing. He again felt her shoes and said, “What did you do to my sign.” The woman replied, “I wrote the same…but different words.”

She had written, “It’s a beautiful day and I can’t see it.”
